Sara Machado is an Award-Winning Brazilian game recruiter and career strategist, with a strong emphasis on EDI. She currently works at Sumo Digital AS A senior talent acquisition partner and is the co-founder of Bird’s Eye View, a company that focus on bridging the gap between formal and informal education and the game development industry. Her work is firmly grounded in the belief that diverse voices from all corners of the globe should be represented and celebrated within the gaming industry, not just as an audience, but as creators and leaders in the space. Career Highlights & Achievements -She Founded Bird’s Eye View with the mission to bridge the gap between education and the games industry. Launched the inaugural 2023 Entry-Level Skills Survey in partnership with Into Games, based on the UK Apprenticeship Standard, to create role standards for junior positions. -The largest-ever Recruitment Report in Games for Hitmarker: Sara conducted an extensive recruitment survey, involving over 600 candidates who cumulatively spent 190 hours discussing their preferences when job hunting. This endeavour resulted in a 26-page best practices report, influencing the industry’s approach to more inclusive recruitment. -Spearheaded the Kickstart Scheme for Into Games + UKIE: This initiative provided over 133 young individuals receiving government support with their first jobs in the gaming industry across 45 studios in the UK. Nominations & Events: – Selected as a MCV/Develop 30 Under 30 -Bafta Connect Member -Shortlisted for the MCV/Develop Women in Games In-House HR and Recruitment Impact Award. – Nominated for Individual Diversity Advocate in the Women in Games Global Awards. – Received an Honorable Mention in the 30 Under 30 MCV/Develop list. – Finalist in the Game Dev Heroes Awards in the Unsung Hero category. – Delivered a keynote talk titled “Before and After – The Future of Inclusivity” at the Sumo Developers Conference.
