David Greenspan

David Greenspan has been involved in the video game business for over 25 years working, independently and in Business and Legal Affairs for some of the most significant video game
publishers at the time in the industry. He has worked for Sony, THQ, Bandai Namco Entertainment America, and Midway Games. He has negotiated hundreds of agreements involving major game developers, publishers, distributors, motion picture studios, professional sports leagues, television networks, and advertisers. At Bandai, he put together a deal where Pac-Man was featured in a television commercial seen by over 20 million people on the internet and 125 million people during the 2015 Super Bowl. David was the lead author of the World Intellectual Property Orgainzations’s publication entitled Mastering The Game: Business and Legal Issues for Video Game Developers. According to WIPO, the book has been downloaded more than 200,000 times and is used at various universities worldwide. Mr. Greenspan is also the co-author of the 2nd edition, released in 2022, and available as a free download at https://tind.wipo.int/record/45851?ln=en Mr. Greenspan has taught classes for more than 20 years, covering video games, the film industry, entertainment law, licensing, and international business primary focusing on transactional issues. He has taught at several law schools, including Santa Clara University School of Law and at the University of Miami Law School. He was one of the first to teach legal and business issues covering the video game industry at the university level and he was also one of the first to teach a transactional class at law school. He has lectured about the video game industry at seminars, government events, and universities throughout the world, including Europe, Latin America, and Asia. Allegedly, he claims only to speak and understand English. Before entering the video game industry, Mr. Greenspan worked for an independent motion picture production and distribution company, sometimes requiring him to draft agreements in the morning and act in films in the afternoon. He drafted and negotiated agreements involving all aspects of production and distribution, and served as an Associate Producer on a few motion pictures.
